Jay-Z’s new book, Decoded, hits bookstores everywhere fast on November 16!!! Well of course we have a preview for our elite readers. Jay talks about a little of everything including being a drug dealer, his relationship with his now deceased dad–to meeting Oprah and the book they had in common. He also talks about his first hit record and befriending President Barack Obama. I will definitely pick it up and give my lollipops an indepth review. I have read a few reviews and they were all extremely pleased.
Personally– I hope the book, Decoded, does well, which will depend heavily on marketing and promotions. Albums may sell themselves, but books don’t. I only say this because the publishing industry is being overtaken by celebrities with books. However, once the big advance is spent the publishers are left stuck with books that are NOT selling AND they can’t even give away:/ That’s just what I’m hearing from publishing executives. But, hopefully Jay-Z will be the minority and sell millions because his other celeb friends can’t even sell 10,000 books. *Kanye shrug*

Hey Diamonds and Gems wassup?! Thought I’d share a great review by one of my fabulous and fly author friends and new blogger, Monique, on my latest book, Mirror Mirror! Oh and yeah please don’t ever think I’m just a blogger:/ The brand is a-ma-zing! Now, go run and tell that:) Muah! Thanks Mo you rock boo:)
Mirror Mirror is not your typical self-help book. The thing that makes it most interesting is the diary entries that help the reader relate to exactly what Venesha is trying to convey. The book is broken up into 16 different sections with a new tip in each Chapter. Venesha uses her eloquent writing prose to keep you interested and craving for more much like in her works of fiction.
She is a master at descriptive adjectives and she has such an endearing way of giving advice you almost forget you’re receiving it. It truly reads like a conversation between you and your good girlfriend and you feel like you are being told what’s best for you by someone that truly cares.
I read the book on a plane ride back home to Milwaukee and I’d like to think when the plane touched down I had quite a different and renewed view on many different subjects.

What is a typical day like for Best Selling Author-Joy Deja King?
It’s so crazy. I’m constantly taking orders, which is a good thing but a lot of work. Then I try to answer as many emails a day that I can but it’s hard because I do that myself. Then I’m always taking calls or returning calls because I have my hands in a few things. And all that is a slow day for me. Then I’m a mother and once my son comes home from school I have to take him to all his activities and do homework. Trust me, I’m always looking forward to getting some sleep.

Answer: First, I hop up out the bed and get my swag on then I take a look in the mirror and say what’s, lol. Just kidding, my days are quite mundane. I get up and make sure my son is off to school safely. Normally, I go back to sleep then I wake up again around ten. My honey and I have breakfast. I watch him off to work then I to go to work in my office. My son comes home around four. I help him with homework and depending on whether my boyfriend is home or not I fix dinner, LMAO. I am a television freak so anytime after seven I am glued to the television watching my favorite shows. After that I go back to writing, which normally keeps me awake until the wee hours of the morning.
