NAACP 20th Annual Theatre Awards
A few of our favorite, fly, and fab celebs graced the red carpet recently. The glam was on display with glamour divas Lisa Raye, Tatyana Ali, Nia Long, Ashanti, Naturi Naughton, Megan Good, and a host of others. The 20th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards at the Directors Guild of America, which was held on August 30, 2010 in Los Angeles, California was an absolute success to put it mildly.
Jasmine Sullivan has a great new single, Holding You Down, and the video was just a released with a cute throwback feel. I heard the song about a month ago and loved it! Check it out.

Takers Is Number 1!!!!
Well it’s official and the numbers are finally in to prove that Takers is officially number 1!!! Tip spoke exclusively to BET clearing up a little confusion, and if there will be a part two of the action packed movie, Takers, in the future!!!
Takers was in less theaters than its competition but still managed to rock the number one spot. What do you think it was about this film?
We were in less theaters but we had a higher per screen average, which means after the math was done the number of people that showed up, the number of sold-out shows we had exceeded the number of sold-out shows our competition had. Although it was believed and perceived that we would fall to the number two slot, the support of the people, word of mouth, the quality of the film and just the energy associated with the project is what catapulted us into the number one slot. We couldn’t have done it without the people. We appreciate it!

HHR: You’ve written fourteen novels, in a reasonably short amount of time. When you are working on a book, how many hours a day do you put into it? Also, does it ever feel like “work” to you?
Joy Deja King: Once I start writing and I get on a roll I normally put in 5-10 hours a day. Only twice, has it felt like work to me and that was because I was missing my deadline.
